The real subject

The Consolidated PBY Catalina was an American amphibious flying boat of the Second World War period, used for maritime patrol, search and rescue and antisubmarine warfare. The PBY-5A version was an amphibian with retractable wheeled landing gear, which allowed it to operate from land as well as from water. It is precisely this landing gear that the set refines in detail.

Use

• Separate the etched parts carefully from the carrier fret with a sharp knife or photo-etch scissors.
• Form the bends on an etch bender or along a straight edge, so that the parts seat precisely.
• Glue the metal parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) applied in a small amount.
• Degrease the surfaces before gluing, and after assembly apply a primer for good adhesion.
