F-105 Thunderchief pilot 1:48, standing type 1 is a figure of an airman in complete flying kit for models of both the single-seat and the two-seat version.
Responsibility details are not available.
The figure captures a pilot in complete flying kit outside the cockpit. The type 1 designation marks one particular stance among the other positions the series offers. The name gives the D, F and G versions, so the figure will suit both the single-seat and the two-seat form of the machine on the apron.
The Republic F-105 was the largest single-engine combat aircraft of its day and one of the few fighter bombers with an internal bomb bay. It came about for an entirely different task, namely a fast penetration at low altitude, and only practice made it the classic carrier of conventional ordnance. In the second half of the 1960s it flew most of the strike missions over North Vietnam, and later the two-seat versions specialized in suppressing antiaircraft missile sites.
The flying clothing of the period rests on a combination of olive and gray green tones, with a dark life vest and a light helmet with a visor to go with them. Lay the base down with an airbrush or with thinned paint and a brush in two thin coats, then darken the hollows with a glaze and bring out the edges. Finish the helmet to a higher gloss, so that it is set apart from the cloth.
The Thunderchief kit needs to be obtained separately.
