Revi 12 and Revi 16 for the Bf 109, clear 3D-printed gunsights 1:48 is a set of two pairs of reflector gunsights in a clear material for detailed improvement of the cockpit of Messerschmitt Bf 109 models.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a fine aftermarket set, not a model of an aircraft. The package contains two builds of the German Revi (Reflexvisier, meaning reflector sight) gunsight, the Revi 12 and the Revi 16, in 2+2 pieces in all. The parts are printed in a clear material, so they capture the glass as well as the body of the sight faithfully, where an ordinary plastic kit deals with them in a simplified way. The set is intended for models of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter in 1:48 scale.
The Revi was the standard reflector gunsight of German fighters of the Second World War. It projected a lighted aiming pattern onto a tilted glass, so the pilot could aim without closing one eye at a telescope. A faithfully rendered gunsight is one of the most conspicuous features of a cockpit and lifts the realism of the interior under an open canopy considerably.
Separate the parts carefully from the print supports and sand the cleaned-up surfaces gently. Clear parts are glued with cyanoacrylate with the risk of fogging in mind, ideally in spots. The clarity of the glass can be brought out by polishing or with a thin coat of gloss varnish. The body of the sight is painted separately before it is glued into the cockpit.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
