A turned replacement barrel of the 152.4mm howitzer designated M-10S for models of the Soviet KV-2 heavy tank in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The KV-2 was a Soviet heavy tank that set an unusually tall slab-sided turret on the chassis of the KV family. The reason was the caliber of its weapon: the turret had to take a 152.4mm howitzer, a gun intended more for breaking down fortifications and stubborn obstacles than for fighting other tanks. The silhouette with the tall turret makes the KV-2 one of the most conspicuous tanks of the beginning of the war, and on a model it is the barrel that the eye goes to first.
A turned replacement barrel of the 152.4mm howitzer, given in the designation as the M-10S, for 1:48 scale. It replaces the part from the kit, so exchanging the barrel does not complicate the build in any way.
It has a round cross-section along its whole length and a precisely formed muzzle, so you can look into the barrel. Unlike a part assembled from two halves it has no lengthwise joint that would have to be sanded down, work in which roundness is easily lost. On a barrel as stout as that of the KV-2 the shape is especially noticeable.
Seat the barrel in the shield on the turret dry and check how it fits and how it is aligned, and only then fix it with super glue. Wash and degrease the surface before painting and use a primer, since a smooth surface otherwise holds paint poorly. Darken the barrel muzzle at the end and lighten the rim gently, so that the opening looks deep.
The barrel is supplied on its own. The model, glue and paints are not included, unless stated otherwise.
