About product

Photo-Etched Set Tiger I Early Production 1:48 – Basic Set (Aber)

This is a photo-etched detail accessory, not a model. The basic set (vol.1) contains parts of thin brass sheet intended for models of the German Pz.Kpfw.VI Ausf.E Tiger I heavy tank in its early production form, 1:48 scale. The set replaces and adds the finest details, which cannot be molded in plastic.

What the set is for

The photo-etched parts add thin-walled and delicate elements such as various covers, brackets, eyes, clasps and tools. Against thick plastic they look more faithful thanks to the real thickness of the material. The basic set forms the first stage of detailing and can be supplemented with the follow-up sets of the same line.

Building tips

Cut or slice the parts from the fret with a sharp knife, make the bends over a bending tool or a metal ruler and fix the joints with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Degrease the brass before painting and go over it with a primer. The work calls for tweezers, patience and basic experience with photo-etched parts.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of early-production Tiger I models in 1:48 scale
  • Modelers who want to raise the level of detail beyond the kit
  • More experienced hands with experience of photo-etched parts

The accessory does not include the tank model itself, paints or glue. It serves only to detail a kit.

FAQ

No. It is a photo-etched detail accessory. The Tiger I kit itself has to be bought separately.

It is the first, basic stage of detailing. Further optional sets of the same line follow on from it, for example the fenders.

We recommend a photo-etch bending tool or a metal ruler, a sharp knife, tweezers and super glue.
