This is a detail set, not an aircraft kit. The package does not contain a Spitfire model: it is an accessory intended to improve the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vc kit in 1:48 scale from the firm Eduard. The parts are made by direct 3D printing, a technology that allows finer detail and sharper edges than can be reached with injection-molded plastic.
The main landing gear legs are among the most exposed places on a Spitfire model: they are seen from close up, they carry the whole weight of the finished model, and at the same time they show the simplification of the plastic parts more than anything else. The printed replacement offers a truer shape for the struts, cleaner transitions and detail that is missing from the plastic parts or filled in. The material is also stiffer than softer plastic legs, so it spreads less under a model on display.
This is not an airplane model but an accessory to another kit. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
