An injection-molded plastic kit of the British fighter aircraft Supermarine Spiteful F.Mk.14 in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter. It is a compact model with a finely engraved surface, clear plastic for the canopy glazing, small photo-etched parts and decals. The Spiteful is a rarely seen type that will round out a collection of late British fighters of the Spitfire line nicely.
The Supermarine Spiteful was a British piston-engine fighter of the end of the Second World War meant to carry on from the famous Spitfire. The fundamental novelty was a new laminar flow wing, intended to remove the aerodynamic limits of the original Spitfire wing and raise the speed. The aircraft appeared only as jet fighters were coming in, however, so only a small number were built and it never reached large-scale series production.
Use liquid cement for plastic, and glue the photo-etched and clear parts with super glue. Finish and paint the cockpit before closing up the fuselage. Lay a primer before painting and apply the paints with an airbrush. On postwar British schemes you will appreciate a light emphasis on the panel lines and a cleanly unmasked color transition on the fuselage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
