A plastic kit of the legendary British fighter Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I in 1:48 scale. One hundred forty-nine parts, the landing gear optionally extended or retracted, the canopy open or closed and three color variants.
Responsibility details are not available.
In the summer of 1940 the Spitfire Mk.I was the most modern machine of the British fighter force. Its elliptical wing, the Merlin engine and eight machine guns made it an opponent to be reckoned with. It was precisely the first production version that bore the main weight of the fighting over southern England, when the outcome was decided by minutes of climb and a few seconds in the gunsight.
The finished model has a wingspan of 232 mm. The difficulty corresponds to the second level, that is a build for a modeler who has already tried several simpler sets and manages work with decals and masking. The recommended age is from eight years.
In the box you will find the plastic sprues, the instructions, an overview of the color schemes and a small decal sheet. Paints, glue and tools are obtained separately. For the cockpit interior it pays off to consider additional photo-etched belts and an instrument panel, because under an open canopy the interior is clearly visible. Do not forget masking templates for the framed glazing; masking by hand is the most time-consuming part of the work with a canopy of this type.
