A plastic kit of the British photo-reconnaissance aircraft Supermarine Spitfire PR.XIX in 1:48 scale from Airfix.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from Airfix captures the British photo-reconnaissance (PR) Spitfire PR.XIX powered by the Rolls-Royce Griffon engine. The box holds plastic parts, clear parts for the glazing and decals for several marking options; it is a build of lower difficulty, suitable for less experienced modelers as well.
The Spitfire PR.XIX was the ultimate photo-reconnaissance version of the famous British fighter. It combined an airframe derived from the PR Mk.XI with the powerful Rolls-Royce Griffon twelve-cylinder engine of the combat Griffon Spitfires. The aircraft carried no armament: instead of guns it carried cameras and relied on the high speed, ceiling and range with which it escaped its opponents. The PR.XIX was among the fastest Spitfires of all and stayed in RAF service long after the war.
Finish and paint the cockpit and the gear bays before the fuselage is closed. Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic and canopy glue on the clear parts. Lay down a primer before the airbrush. The characteristic single-color photo-reconnaissance schemes, for instance the blue finish, come out nicely with the panel lines picked out by a fine wash and with discreet exhaust staining.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
