Omask 1:48 Tempest Mk.V RAF masks for insignias is a set of masks for spraying British national insignia. They are neither canopy masks nor a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item from Omask differs in purpose from ordinary canopy masks: it is meant for spraying British national insignia onto a model of the Hawker Tempest Mk.V in 1:48 scale. A sprayed roundel is usually crisper and, above all, follows the shape of the airframe perfectly, which tells especially on a wing with a leading edge or in places where a decal would have to be coaxed into shape. The package contains neither plastic nor paints; it assumes you already have the model under way.
The Tempest Mk.V was the peak of the development line that led from the Hurricane through the Typhoon to an aircraft with a thin elliptical wing. It was powered by the mighty Napier Sabre H-24 engine and at low altitude the Tempest was among the fastest piston fighters of the late war. It became famous above all for catching V-1 flying bombs and for attacks on ground targets over northwestern Europe, where its speed and the fixed armament in the wing both told.
Work from the lightest ring toward the darker ones and let the surface dry thoroughly between the individual colors. Lay a covering ground under the white and yellow elements, otherwise the dark camouflage underneath will print through into the shade. Circular insignia call for a light pressure and a perpendicular stream so that paint does not creep under the edge of the mask.
