An accessory set in 1:48 scale with American ammunition boxes and cartons of rounds. Meant for filling out dioramas and finishing vehicle models.
Responsibility details are not available.
Ammunition did not reach a unit loose but in boxes and smaller cartons, which were stacked by the guns, carried on the beds of trucks and set down on the ground wherever the firing was going on. On a model scene these small things do more than the vehicle itself: empty space around a model rings false, whereas a few boxes by a wheel, an open carton with its contents spilled out and a discarded lid give the scene a story.
American ammunition boxes and cartons of rounds in 1:48 scale. It is an accessory for models of vehicles and guns and for dioramas; you cannot build a stand-alone model from it. The number of pieces in the package, the make-up of the parts and whether the boxes are rendered in the open position as well are given by the manufacturer's instructions and the box.
Choose the glue according to the material of the parts: ordinary cement for plastic models holds only on polystyrene, so use cyanoacrylate on other materials. Cut the excess material and the traces of manufacture away a little distance from the part with a sharp blade and sand the rest. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Lay the base shade on every piece the same way, but weather each box differently, or the result will be a row of identical crates. A dark wash settles shadow into the pressings, the seams and the lettering, and drybrushing brings out the edges and corners that wore first in the field. Leave the stencils rather indistinct; sharp new lettering on a used box looks unconvincing.
What is supplied is an accessory set. A vehicle model, figures, paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
