A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale for a model of the Vickers Wellington Mk IC bomber, part number 48811. According to the supplier the sheet names four machines from 1941 and 1942, among them an aircraft of No. 311 Czechoslovak Squadron with the code KX-K and an aircraft of No. 305 Polish Squadron with the code SM-E; the remaining two belonged to other Royal Air Force squadrons. Techmod has released more than one sheet for the Wellington IC in this scale under the same name, so compare the markings with a photograph of the machine you are building. It is not a kit.
The Wellington was a twin-engined bomber with an unusual geodetic airframe: a lattice of aluminum sections under a fabric covering withstood even heavy hits. The Mk IC version carried a front and a rear gun turret and side windows with a gun position. In the first years of the war the Wellington was the main strength of British bomber aviation, and Czechoslovak and Polish crews flew it in Royal Air Force service.
A decal holds best on a smooth, glossy varnished surface; on a matte or roughened base a visible rim stays around the motif. Trim each motif as closely as possible, leave it 20 to 30 seconds in lukewarm water and then slide it from the paper onto a spot wetted with water. Press the air and the excess water out from the center toward the edges. On doubly curved surfaces and over engraved lines a decal setting solution helps. Overspray the finished markings with a protective varnish in the degree of gloss that the rest of the model has.
It is an accessory for the model, not a kit. The base kit, paints and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
