An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet Yakovlev Yak-3 fighter in 1:48 scale from Zvezda. The model has engraved surface detail, a subdivided cockpit interior and a clear canopy; it is a readily built kit suitable for less experienced modelers too. Check the exact contents of the package and the number of marking options against the manufacturer's instructions.
The Yak-3 was one of the lightest and most agile fighters of the Second World War. It came about by lightening and aerodynamically cleaning up the older Yak series and excelled in its flying qualities at low and medium altitudes, where it was among the best fighters of its day. It entered service in 1944 and became one of the symbols of Soviet fighter aviation at the end of the war.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid modeling cement for plastic. Paint and pick out the cockpit interior before the fuselage is closed up and mask the clear canopy when spraying. Apply primer and the colors with an airbrush, apply the decals over a gloss coat and bring out the panel lines with a wash. Soviet machines often carried prominent tactical markings and quickly applied camouflage, so restrained wear suggests itself.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
