Flyhawk FH1127 HMS Aurora 1945 is a plastic kit of a British light cruiser in 1:700 scale, with a photo-etched fret and decals.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of a British light cruiser in her 1945 state. The number of parts runs to about forty-five pieces, and a photo-etched fret and decals belong with them. By the standards of ship models it is therefore a quick build, but the parts are finely worked, as is usual with this manufacturer. The hull is a full one, including the underwater part.
Aurora belonged to a smaller class of light cruisers built in the middle of the nineteen thirties as a cheaper complement to the larger units. She distinguished herself in the Mediterranean, where she served in a strike force operating from Malta against the supply convoys to North Africa; her speed and her gunnery proved themselves in night attacks. By 1945 she had been through several changes of armament, above all a strengthening of her anti-aircraft defense, and it is this late state that the model captures.
Spray the hull and the deck separately before you join them and you will save yourself masking the edge. Glue the photo-etched railings and cranes with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) in short stretches. Leave the masts and the fine booms until the end, because they bend during any further handling. The British camouflage of the end of the war is broken up into large areas, for which masking putty or a thin paper stencil suits well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
