The Flyhawk German U-boat Type VIIB U-99 is a plastic kit in 1:700 scale; the box holds two pieces.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit from Flyhawk represents the German Type VIIB submarine U-99 of the Second World War in 1:700 scale. The box holds two pieces and a photo-etched fret; the model can be built either as a full-hull or as a waterline version.
Type VIIB was an improved version of the most numerous German Type VII submarines, the workhorses of the Battle of the Atlantic. Compared with the basic type it had a greater fuel capacity, a twin rudder and higher speed. U-99 under the command of Otto Kretschmer was among the most successful German submarines of the war; her commander counted as one of the finest submarine aces and was nicknamed the tonnage king because of the number of ships he sank. His attacks from immediately alongside convoys became a textbook example of the submarine tactics of the day.
Decide in advance between the full-hull and the waterline version. Glue the small parts in 1:700 scale carefully and the photo-etched items with super glue. The hull is best sprayed with an airbrush; thanks to the two pieces in the box you can build a pair or a small diorama.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
