HäT 1:72 1 Complete Roman Army is an army box of a republican legion: over sixty figures including cavalry and a shooting engine.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale from HäT. This is an army box in which the maker has brought the sprues of several of its separate sets together: command, cavalry, a shooting engine, twice the principes with triarii and twice the hastati with velites. The result is over sixty figures, that is a legion with all three lines, a mounted element and artillery. The plastic is unpainted.
The republican legion of the Punic Wars drew up in three lines: in front the young hastati, behind them the principes in their prime, and at the back the experienced triarii with a long spear. The light velites skirmished ahead of the formation and the cavalry covered the wings. This flexible manipular formation allowed tired lines to be relieved, and that is exactly how it differed from the solid Greek phalanx.
Wash the figures, dry them and spray them with a flexible primer. Sort them by sprue straight away, or the three lines of the legion will get mixed up on your table. Paint the shields in groups with a uniform pattern, and the formation gains its order. With this many pieces it pays to lay the base coats on in bulk and to finish only the faces and shields by hand.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
