What the tank is for

A drop tank of 150 gallons, that is a little under 570 liters, is hung under the fuselage of F-5 family aircraft on the longitudinal axis of the machine. It increases the range and in photographs from ferry flights and from ordinary service it is visible practically all the time. On a model it is a prominent item under the fuselage that changes the silhouette of the machine more than most small accessories.

Which aircraft the set is intended for

The name gives it as intended for the F-5E, F-5F and F-5N versions, and for the F-20 and the AT-3 as well. The Northrop F-5E Tiger II and its two-seat form the F-5F are light supersonic combat aircraft widespread among dozens of users; F-5N is the designation of the machines used by the US Navy. The F-20 Tigershark was a later stage of development that remained at a few prototypes. The AT-3 is a Taiwanese two-seat jet trainer. The package contains one tank.

Building and painting tips

The parts are not polystyrene and ordinary cement for plastic does not work on them; use cyanoacrylate glue. Cut away any excess material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand what is left carefully, so that the shape of the tank is preserved. Before painting, wash the part and degrease it, or the paint will hold badly. It is practical to fit the tank only once the underside of the fuselage is finished, so that it is not in the way during masking. The particular way to prepare the parts is given in the manufacturer's instructions.

Who it is for

For modelers who build one of the aircraft named in the configuration with a centerline tank and want a crisper shape than the part from the kit offers. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
