Landing gear wheels for a model of the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk in 1:72 scale. They replace the plastic parts from a kit and are bonded with super glue.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk came about as a light and simple carrier attack aircraft whose dimensions let it fit on a carrier elevator without folding its wing. It stayed in service unusually long, flew with the US Navy and with a number of other operators and also became a favorite training machine.
Replacement landing gear wheels for a model of the Skyhawk in 1:72 scale. In this scale plastic wheels tend to be the weakest point of the landing gear, because the fine pattern of a tire is hard to injection-mold. The replacement parts have a sharper shape and a cleaner hub. The material is not polystyrene, so join them with super glue.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little from the part and sand the remainder off, so that the wheel seats level. Washing and degreasing is necessary before painting. In 1:72 it pays to paint the hub in with a brush instead of masking it, as the area is small and a mask slips under easily. A deep black tire looks hard; a dark gray shade looks more natural.
The set belongs in the hands of a modeler who is building the Skyhawk in 1:72 scale and wants to improve the detail of the landing gear with a quick exchange of parts. Before bonding them, try the wheels dry and check that the model stands on all three wheels. The work takes a few minutes and shows in the result.
The package holds the parts named only. The model, paints, glue and masking material are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
