HäT 8044 Alexander's light infantry is a set of plastic figures in 1:72 from the time of the campaign against Persia.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale depicts the light infantry of the Macedonian army of the time of Alexander's campaign. It belongs to the range devoted to Alexander's armies and complements both the phalanx and the mounted sets in the same scale. It is supplied unpainted. The manufacturer does not state the number of pieces, so check it on the packaging.
The phalanx on its own was not enough. It was slow, vulnerable from the flank and fell apart in broken ground, so light infantry went with it: slingers, archers and javelin men who screened the flanks, seized high ground and pursued a beaten enemy. Alexander also brought allied and hired detachments from Thrace, Crete and other regions into the campaign, so the equipment of the light units was far from uniform. It was precisely their mobility that allowed the Macedonian army to fight in mountains and in desert, where the phalanx alone would not have succeeded.
A lack of uniformity suits light infantry: work with several muted shades and do not aim for the impression of a uniform. Paint the shields and smaller targes separately while you still have them loose in your hand. The javelins and bows are thin, so separate them with a sharp knife and do not bend them. Add unity to the whole only with a common tone on the bases.
The figures are supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
