A Ukrainian light turboprop aircraft in an anti-drone configuration: 1:72 Antonov An-28 Drone Killer + 3D Parts from Amodel, rounded out with 3D-printed parts.
Responsibility details are not available.
This new release from Amodel captures the light twin-engined turboprop An-28 in the form it received only during the ongoing conflict in Ukraine: as an airborne platform meant to destroy unmanned aircraft. The set is rounded out with 3D-printed parts, which help to capture elements that are hard to translate into a conventional injection mold.
The An-28 grew out of the smaller An-14 and went into series production in the middle of the 1970s; later it was built in Poland as well. It is a typical short-takeoff machine with a high-mounted wing, fixed landing gear and the ability to operate from grass strips. Ukrainian crews reached for this type precisely because it holds well at the low speeds and low altitudes at which attack drones move.
Castings from shorter runs call for more thorough preparation: clean up the mating surfaces, test the fit as you go and reckon with filling the seams on the fuselage. Wash the printed parts before gluing and remove the supports from them. Because of the large span it is a good idea to reinforce the wing joint and to degrease the whole model before painting.
The box holds raw castings, not a finished aircraft. To complete it you will need your own fillers, abrasives and paints.
