Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of the large assault glider in 1:72 scale from the Italian manufacturer Italeri. The set combines a model of the AS.51 Horsa Mk.I glider with figures of British paratroopers and belongs to a range commemorating the airborne operations of D-Day. The box contains parts in gray and clear plastic, decals and illustrated instructions. The model makes up a sizable whole with a glazed pilot's cockpit.
The Airspeed AS.51 Horsa was a British engineless assault glider intended to land troops and equipment directly in the combat area. The structure was largely wooden and the aircraft could carry more than twenty fully armed paratroopers or an equivalent load. A powered aircraft towed it to the target and the glider then landed on its own. It was used, among other places, in the Normandy landings and at Arnhem in the Netherlands.
Given the size of the model, start with the interior and only then close up the fuselage. Use thin modeling cement on the plastic parts, and glue the clear canopy parts with cement for clear parts so that they do not fog. Assemble and paint the figures separately. A primer base, an airbrush and masking are the way to go for the period camouflage, including the invasion stripes.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
