A set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale from the brand HäT. The package contains forty-eight figures in twelve poses, which is an above-average variety for this range. The figures are molded in one piece and are supplied unpainted. The subject is the askaris, that is, African soldiers in the service of the colonial powers, who in the First World War carried the main weight of the fighting in East Africa.
The African campaign of the First World War was waged over an enormous space and with small forces. The German as well as the British detachments rested in large part on African soldiers, who bore the climate and the marches in that country better than European units. The fighting took the form of endless movement, raids and turning movements and ended only after the capitulation in Europe. Askaris are usually depicted in field equipment with hats decorated with feathers.
Wash the figures, dry them and spray them with a flexible primer. Twelve poses let you build a lively scene without repetition, so sort the figures before painting and divide them into groups. Bring the khaki uniform to life a shade lighter and a shade darker. Pick the feathers on the hat out in a lighter color; it is the most conspicuous detail of the whole set. Bases with tall grass will place the scene in an African setting.
The figures are supplied unpainted and unassembled. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
