A kit in 1:72 scale from the brand HäT. The package contains three Austrian horse-drawn ammunition wagons, drivers included. The parts are supplied unpainted and both the wagon and the team have to be assembled. The set belongs to the Napoleonic train and complements the Austrian artillery and infantry of the same range, to which it gives a rear area and movement.
Ammunition wagons were an inconspicuous but indispensable part of the artillery. A battery used up hundreds of rounds in a single day of fighting, and without continuous replenishment from the wagons it would have fallen silent after a while. The Austrian train was gradually reformed during the Napoleonic wars, and from 1808 it belonged to the army rather than to hired civilian carters, which improved the reliability of supply in the field.
Line the parts up dry first, above all the wheels and the axles, so that the wagon stands straight. Austrian wagons were usually an ocher or yellow-brown color with black metal fittings; bring out the wood with a glaze drawn along the grain. Bring the horses together into two shades and set the harness apart in a dark brown. Mark ruts in the earth on the base and the wagon gains weight while the scene gains action.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
