Wet (waterslide) decals from the British brand Kits-World for plastic models of the Avro Lancaster bomber in 1:72 scale, worked up for the B.X, Mk.VII and B.III versions. The sheet holds national insignia, code letters and serials for a faithful finish. This is a decal set on its own, not an aircraft kit.

The real subject

The Avro Lancaster was the backbone of British strategic bombing in the Second World War. The B.III version used Packard-built Merlin engines, the Canadian-built B.X was based on them as well, and the late Mk.VII differed in the arrangement of the dorsal gun turret. All of them were flown by the RAF and by Allied squadrons on night raids.

Use and tips

• Apply the decals onto a smooth gloss coat, which prevents dull silvering under the film.
• Dip the part in lukewarm water for a few seconds and slide it off the paper onto the model.
• Use a decal softener to bed it into the detail; once it is down, do not move it and give it at least 45 minutes.
• Seal the finished markings with a matte or gloss clear varnish.
