Photo-etched metal parts in 1:72 scale for a model of the North American B-25B Mitchell bomber. An accessory for a finished kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The North American B-25 Mitchell was an American twin-engined medium bomber of the Second World War, recognizable by its twin vertical tail surfaces and slightly cranked wing. The B version had upper and lower retractable gun turrets and lacked a tail gun position. It was aircraft of this version that took off in April 1942 from the deck of an aircraft carrier for the raid on the Japanese islands, an action that had until then been unthinkable for a twin-engined bomber.
These are photo-etched parts in 1:72 scale intended to complete a finished kit. The parts are etched from thin metal sheet and are held on a carrier fret. Photo-etch makes it possible to show belts, buckles, grilles and stiffeners in a thickness that an injection-molded part cannot achieve. Which parts the set contains and which kit it is tailored to are given in the enclosed instructions.
In 1:72 scale the parts are truly tiny, so have a sharp blade, a hard cutting surface and pointed tweezers ready and work over a light background so that a dropped part can be found. Cut the tabs through rather than breaking them, and sand the remainder away. Make the bends along the scored line. Bond with super glue in minute drops; cement for polystyrene will not join metal. Before painting, wash and degrease the parts and cover them with a coat of primer. Fit everything that goes inside the fuselage before you close the assembly up.
The set is for modelers with experience of photo-etch who want to take the detail of a small scale further. The model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
