Responsibility details are not available.
A set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale from the brand MARS Model. The package contains forty-eight figures in twelve poses, which is an above-average variety for a figure set. The figures are unpainted and come on sprues. According to the artwork on the box these are corsairs from the Ottoman Mediterranean, that is, Barbary pirates, and not the barbarian tribes that the name might suggest.
The Barbary corsairs operated from the ports of North Africa from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century and were formally tied to the Ottoman Empire. They raided ships and coastal villages throughout the Mediterranean, and their raids reached as far as Iceland. Their outfits were varied: a turban or a fez, loose clothing, a curved sword and often a firearm as well, which makes them a rewarding subject for a modeler.
Wash the figures in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, dry them and spray them with a flexible primer. This set will take a richer range of color than a military unit does: striped sashes, colored turbans and vests will bring a scene to life. Darken the metal parts of the weapons and pick out the edges. The twelve poses let you build a deck or a harbor scene in which nothing repeats.
The figures are supplied unpainted and unassembled. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
