Responsibility details are not available.
A set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale from HäT. The box holds forty-eight figures. The subject is the Libyan and African infantry, that is the most reliable element of the Carthaginian army. The figures are unpainted and molded in one piece. The set is among the oldest in the maker's ancient range and combines well with the other Carthaginian units of the same scale.
In Hannibal's army the African infantry formed the hard core that could be relied on even after years of campaigning in Italy. After the victories at Lake Trasimene and at Cannae some of these units re-equipped themselves with captured Roman gear, so that they looked more like legionaries than an African army. At Cannae it was the African infantry that closed on the Roman formation from the flanks and decided the encirclement.
Wash the figures in lukewarm water with detergent, dry them and spray them with a flexible primer. White tunics with a red edging match the descriptions of the day and set them apart in a formation from the Gallic and Hispanic allies. Paint the shields more uniformly than those of the allied units, as the African infantry looked more closely ordered. Leave the metal parts bronze, as steel was not yet a matter of course in this period.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
