HäT 8019 Spanish infantry of the Carthaginians is a set of plastic figures in 1:72 from the time of the Punic wars.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale depicts the infantry from the Iberian peninsula that made up a substantial part of Hannibal's army. It belongs to the range devoted to the Punic wars and complements both the Carthaginian and the Roman sets in the same scale. It is supplied unpainted. The manufacturer does not state the number of pieces, so check it on the packaging.
Carthage did not have enough citizens of its own to field a large army and therefore relied on allies and hired troops. The Iberian warriors were among the most valuable: they carried a short sword suited to both the thrust and the cut, an oval or round shield and only light protection, but they could fight in a loose formation as well as in a close one. It was they who made up a large part of the infantry with which Hannibal crossed the Alps and won the first battles in Italy. Their white clothing with a red border is expressly mentioned in the descriptions of ancient authors.
Do the white tunic with a light gray base and leave white only for the highest surfaces; the red border then stands out by itself. Paint the shields separately, pattern and all, while you still have them loose in your hand. Keep the other parts of the clothing in muted earth shades and add unity to the group only with a common tone on the bases.
The figures are supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
