This resin detail set from MH models contains six ASO-2V chaff and flare dispensers in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane model, but an accessory meant to refine and enrich a finished kit with faithfully cast dispensers carrying fine surface detail that injection-molded plastic usually cannot render.
The ASO-2V is a Soviet automatic countermeasure dispenser that fires chaff (dipole reflectors) and flares to deceive the seeker heads of radar-guided and infrared-guided anti-aircraft missiles. The system was fitted to a range of combat helicopters and aircraft of Eastern design, typically to Mil attack helicopters, and is usually placed in blocks on the sides of the fuselage or the tail section.
First wash the mold release residue off the parts, carefully separate them from the casting blocks and sand the contact surfaces. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a primer before painting; the fine relief of the individual cells of the dispenser stands out once a darker wash is laid into the recesses and light drybrushing is applied.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
