A resin kit of the Soviet D-12 light armored car in 1:72 scale, complemented by a metal machine gun barrel. This is a cast model for experienced modelers: the parts are held on casting blocks, they are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) and before painting they have to be freed of mold release agent. The small scale means fine castings, so it pays to work with a magnifier and a sharp tool. The metal part of the weapon stands handling better than a thin casting.
The D-12 was a Soviet light armored car from the early 1930s, built on the chassis of a domestically produced passenger car. It came out of the design group of Dyrenkov alongside the related D-8 type and differed from it above all in the arrangement of the armament: it had an added machine gun station allowing fire upwards against aircraft. The vehicle was small, lightly armored and turretless, so it suited liaison and reconnaissance duty rather than combat. Only a few were built.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water to get rid of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the face with abrasive paper; protect your breathing while sanding resin. Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) and fill the seams with cyanoacrylate glue with a filler. Degrease the metal barrel with alcohol and lay down a primer. Apply a primer to the whole model, as resin otherwise takes paint poorly.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted as a resin kit. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
