Dewoitine D.520 1:72 RS Models is a short-run plastic kit of the French fighter of the Second World War, intended rather for more experienced modelers.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the French Dewoitine D.520 fighter in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer RS Models. It is a short-run kit with finely engraved surface detail and clear parts for the canopy glazing. Compared with mass-production kits, short-run kits have heavier sprue gates and a less precise fit, so before gluing expect to clean the parts up and test-fit them. That is exactly why the model is intended rather for more experienced modelers drawn to a less usual subject. A decal sheet with several marking options is included.
The Dewoitine D.520 was the most modern French fighter in service in 1940. It was an elegant single-seat machine with a liquid-cooled engine, agile and decently armed, which in the fighting of 1940 was able to stand up even to powerful opponents. After the armistice it continued to fly with French units and other countries used it as well. It is one of the interesting subjects sought after by modelers precisely because of its history and its clean aerodynamic line.
With a short-run kit, first clean the parts of flash and gate remains and test-fit them dry; make up any small inaccuracies with sanding and filler. Paint the cockpit and fit it before you close up the fuselage, and mask the small clear glazing and spray it together with the airframe. Period French camouflage has characteristic soft transitions between several shades - build them up in fine layers and bring out the panel lines with a thin wash. Apply the decals over a smooth gloss coat and finish with a flat overcoat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
