A set of photo-etched parts for a model of the Douglas A-4M Skyhawk in 1:72 scale. Etched metal deals with what injection-molded plastic is not up to: seat belts, the instrument panel, grilles and other elements that are in reality to be as thin as sheet. In 1:72 this difference is most visible, because the scale magnifies every unnecessary thickness.
The parts are joined to the carrier fret by tiny tabs. Do not cut them with scissors but cut the tab through with a sharp blade on a hard surface, otherwise the part will bend. Make the bends over a straight edge, and with larger parts a bending tool will help. Degrease the parts before gluing, as fingers leave grease on metal, and paint will not hold on that. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a minute amount, and for loaded joints a two-part adhesive suits well. Metal needs a base coat before painting, otherwise the finish will rub off.
The A-4 Skyhawk was an American light attack aircraft, unusually small and simple for its time. The delta wing was so short that it did not have to be folded for carrier service. The A-4M version was the last American production variant, intended for the Marine Corps, and you will recognize it among other things by its larger canopy.
The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
