1:72 Dutch-Polish Red Lancers 1805-1815

Dutch-Polish Red Lancers 1805-1815, 1:72 scale, Italeri

A plastic set of unassembled and unpainted figures of the Dutch-Polish Red Lancers of the Napoleonic period, in 1:72 scale. It is an injection-molded plastic set of figures - riders and horses, suited to building, painting and diorama work. Italeri is an established Italian maker of plastic models and figures.

The real subject

The Red Lancers belonged to the light cavalry of Napoleon's Imperial Guard and were famous for their striking red uniform and for the lance as their main weapon. They were committed to many campaigns in the final years of the Napoleonic Wars. The figures capture the lancers charging and on the move.

Building and painting tips

• Cut the figures and horses from the sprue and clean up the mold seams.
• On the softer plastic use a suitable cement or super glue; apply a primer before painting.
• Paint with acrylics - a base coat, shadows in the folds and a dry brush on the edges.
• Build up the striking red uniform in layers so that the color is deep and does not look flat.
