HäT 1:72 El Cid: Spanish Light Cavalry is a set of twelve Spanish light riders from the time of El Cid.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale from the brand HäT. The package contains twelve riders in four poses and twelve horses in four poses. The figures are unpainted and the rider has to be seated in the saddle. The set belongs to the range devoted to the eleventh century on the Iberian peninsula, in which the manufacturer offers Christian as well as Andalusian units.
Spanish light cavalry of the eleventh century fought in a manner later called riding with a short stirrup. The rider sat with his legs bent, could change direction quickly and fought with a javelin that he threw as well as thrust. Christian fighters took this style over from their Andalusian opponents, and the border war in which Rodrigo Díaz, called El Cid, made his name brought it to perfection.
Wash the plastic, dry it and spray it with a flexible primer. The kite shields are the most striking area of the set and it pays to paint a simple heraldic pattern on them. Handle the chain mail with a dark base and a dry brush. Leave the horses in muted shades so that the colorful saddle cloths stand out. Glue the javelins on only after painting; they are thin and bend easily.
The figures are supplied unpainted and unassembled. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
