Injection-molded plastic kit of the American Lockheed F-117A stealth attack aircraft in 1:72 scale from Academy. The Ghost of Baghdad boxing refers to the use of this machine in the raids on Baghdad. The model has the angular, faceted shape of the airframe and an openable bomb bay with racks, in which guided as well as conventional bombs can be placed. Waterslide decals for several markings are included. The exact contents of the package can differ between releases.
The F-117A Nighthawk was the first combat aircraft designed deliberately for low radar detectability. Its airframe is made up of an arrangement of flat facets that reflect radar waves away from the source, and the surface is covered with radar-absorbent material. It flew exclusively at night, carried its armament concealed in the bomb bay and became famous for precise strikes on heavily defended targets during the Gulf War in 1991.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid cement for plastic; the flat facets of the airframe call for careful sanding of the joints, so that the edges stay crisp. The characteristic all-black matte finish is best applied with an airbrush over a primer. Pick the panel lines out only gently with a dark gray, so that the black surface does not flatten into a single area.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
