An injection-molded plastic model of the German fighter monoplane Fokker E.III Eindecker from the First World War, in 1:72 scale, produced by the Czech brand Smer. It is an older tooling (an older factory mold), which corresponds to a simpler build and coarser surface detail — the model therefore suits modelers who enjoy working with a kit and fine-tuning it.
The Fokker E.III was the most significant version of the Eindecker monoplane series. As one of the first fighter aircraft, it had a synchronized machine gun firing through the propeller arc (an interrupter mechanism), which made it a feared machine in 1915-1916 — a period nicknamed the Fokker Scourge. It was a strut-braced mid-wing monoplane using wing-warping instead of ailerons, powered by a rotary engine. Later German aces flew it too. The type influenced the development of fighter tactics in the early years of aerial warfare.
With an older tooling, expect to clean up the parts more carefully — remove flash, clean up the seam lines, and test-fit everything dry. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement, fill and sand the fuselage joints as needed. Apply a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush or brush in thin coats. On an aircraft from this period, tensioned rigging wires made from thin fiber look great and add scale fineness to the model.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
