A set for assembling a supply wagon from the time of the Napoleonic Wars in 1:72 scale. The wagon carried along behind the army the things without which it could not fight: cartridges, food, tents, tools and the personal baggage of the officers. On a diorama it will round out a column or a camp, that is, a scene that shows war outside the battle itself.
The baggage train was the most vulnerable and at the same time the most important part of every army of the period. The pace of a campaign was set precisely by the speed of the wagons, not by the march of the infantry, and the enemy tried to destroy or capture them before anything else. The wagons were wooden, with high wheels because of the mud, and they were drawn by teams of horses or mules looked after by their own personnel.
Glue and paint the wagon and the horses separately and join them only at the end. Wood looks more faithful after thin glazes, which let the engraving of the casting show through. The tarpaulin can be brought out with a light drybrush over the folds. The wheels and the underside of the wagon deserve mud and dust, because the train moved along rutted roads, not over paving. The load on the bed is a rewarding chance to round the scene out with small items of your own.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
