Mitsubishi G4M1 Betty 1:72 (Techmod)

This sheet of waterslide decals from Techmod brings national insignia and markings for the Japanese twin-engine bomber Mitsubishi G4M1. Betty is the Allied code name for this machine. The sheet lets you finish a model with the markings of particular Kokutai as well as the national insignia of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service.

The real subject

The Mitsubishi G4M was a long-range torpedo and bomber aircraft of the Imperial Japanese Navy. It excelled in range but was vulnerable because of its poorly protected fuel tanks. It was used throughout the Pacific theater from the start of the war.

Use

• Trim the decal and dip it briefly in lukewarm water.
• Apply it onto a smooth gloss coat, so that no silvering occurs under the film.
• Use a decal softener to settle it onto shaped surfaces and go over it with a final coat.
