A German three-ton truck with a box body for a radio station in 1:72 scale from MAC Distribution. A plastic kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the German three-ton truck in the box-body form, adapted for operating a radio station. The box body, which in German was called the standard body, was a clever solution: the same wooden box was built onto the chassis as needed as a radio station, a workshop, an ambulance, a command post or a survey station. For the modeler that means the same basic vehicle can fill a completely different role in a diorama depending on what is inside it and what stands around it.
Three-ton trucks were the backbone of German supply transport and were used in every conceivable adaptation. The vehicle with the radio station belonged to the signals units and can be recognized by the antenna equipment on the roof and on the side of the body. Modern conduct of battle could not do without communications, so these vehicles stood at every higher headquarters.
In 1:72 scale the parts are small, so work over a mat and apply the glue with a tip. Finish and paint the chassis and the cab before you fit the body. Paint the wooden surfaces of the box in a different tone from the sheet-metal cab, as in reality they had a different surface. Add the antennas from thin wire at the very end, after painting. Keep the weathering restrained, as in this scale a heavy wash tends to flood the detail.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
