Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German class 86 steam locomotive (Baureihe 86) in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. It is a static collector model of a tank locomotive with a finely rendered running gear, boiler, cab and clear parts. The box contains a decal sheet with several marking options and an assembly manual.
Class 86 was a general-purpose tank locomotive (without a separate tender — it carried its water and coal supplies on board), designed for service on branch and mountain lines with lower track capacity. It was built from the end of the 1920s until the close of the Second World War and became one of the longest series-produced types of German locomotives. Thanks to its versatility it served in both freight and passenger traffic, and a number of machines remained in service long after the war.
First assemble and paint the running gear with the wheelsets and the motion, and only then close the shells. Paint the boiler and the cylinders before you fit the small fittings and the piping. Insert the clear parts (the cab windows) last and protect them from glue. The base is black lifted with dark gray; drybrushing will pull out the rivets and the edges and a dark wash will deepen the grooves. The period look is completed by rust on the running gear, coal dust around the bunker and a limescale tint on the boiler. Bring out the wheels and the motion with metallic shades.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
