A shade for rubber parts. It is not a pure black but a muted dark tone that makes tires and tracks look convincing on a model. A 10 ml pack.
Responsibility details are not available.
Anyone who paints wheels with a pure black usually finds that the model is suddenly standing on two holes. Real rubber only looks black. In fact it reflects light like a very dark gray and in a photograph, as to the naked eye, it appears noticeably lighter than we remember it. On top of that comes the effect known as scale effect: the smaller the model, the lighter a dark surface should be painted so that it keeps the shape readable.
This shade is therefore mixed deliberately as a muted, slightly grayish black without gloss. On tires the tread pattern stays visible, on the rubber blocks of tank tracks the segmentation can be told apart, and the shadow under a fender does not merge with the wheel into one uniform blot.
Its use goes further than wheels. It suits rubber seals of hatches, hoses, wipers, tread surfaces, rubber grip sleeves and the footwear of figures. Wherever a material is meant to look soft and matte, it works better than a gloss black.
Recommended procedure: apply the paint as a base, once dry go over the edges of the tread with a dry brush loaded with light gray, and finally dust the lower part of the tire with a pigment or light earth. That creates the impression of a weighted wheel resting on the ground. The paint is a lacquer and is thinned with cellulose thinner of the same brand. Remember that the sidewall is usually cleaner than the tread, so the dusting should end before it reaches the rim, otherwise the wheel looks sunk in mud.
