This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from Meng captures the German Leopard 2 main battle tank in the A4 version. It is a new mold that brings a great deal of detail down into the smaller scale. According to the manufacturer the package offers movable running gear, connectable track links that need no gluing, a metal gun barrel and three marking options.
The Leopard 2 is a German third-generation main battle tank. The A4 version went into series production in the mid-1980s and became the most widely used and most exported variant of the whole Leopard 2 family. The tank is armed with the 120 mm Rheinmetall Rh120-L44 smoothbore gun and offers a combination of heavy firepower, mobility and crew protection. The Leopard 2A4 served and still serves with the armies of a number of countries around the world.
Even in the smaller scale it pays to finish the running gear and the hull detail on armored vehicles before the turret is closed. Connectable track links make assembly easier, and a metal gun barrel guarantees an accurate axis and a straight line. Glue the plastic with a thin modeling cement. Once the primer and the base color are sprayed, the detail comes out with a wash in the recesses and drybrushing on the edges; pigments on the running gear give the vehicle a realistic touch of dust and mud.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
