An injection-molded plastic kit of the British vertical takeoff attack aircraft Hawker Siddeley Harrier GR.3 in 1:72 scale from Italeri. The box holds gray and clear plastic, decals for several marking variants and external stores. The model is popular among other things for its connection with the deployment of Harriers in the Falklands conflict.
The Harrier GR.3 was the ground attack and reconnaissance version of the British vertical and short takeoff (V/STOL) aircraft of the Royal Air Force. Its hallmark was vectored engine thrust with rotating nozzles, which allowed takeoff and landing either vertically or from a very short strip, and a lengthened nose with a laser target marker. GR.3 machines wrote themselves into history with their deployment in the South Atlantic, where they worked in ground support.
Use liquid cement for plastic and finish and paint the cockpit before closing the fuselage. The rotating vectored thrust nozzles can be set off with a different metallic shade. Apply primer before painting and lay the paints on with an airbrush; on the dark British camouflage schemes, gentle accenting of the panel lines helps. Fit the stores and the armament only after the basic painting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
