An injection-molded plastic kit of the heavy helicopter HH-53C Super Jolly Green Giant in 1:72 scale from Italeri. Even in this smaller scale it is a large and imposing model. The boxing contains decals for four marking options. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The HH-53C was a large American rescue and combat helicopter of the Vietnam War era, derived from the CH-53 series of heavy helicopters. It served for combat search and rescue (CSAR) - recovering downed pilots from hostile territory. Compared with the basic version it had an in-flight refueling probe, auxiliary fuel tanks, strengthened armor and the ability to carry defensive armament. The nickname Jolly Green Giant, and in this heavier and more powerful version Super Jolly Green Giant, is firmly attached to the type.
The glazed cockpit has a number of clear parts - it pays to mask them and protect them from glue. Make sure the blades of the main and tail rotors are straight and symmetrical; the rotor head contains a number of small parts. Work with liquid cement for plastic, apply a primer and spray with an airbrush. A camouflage scheme (green, brown) or gray suits period machines; exhaust and oil stains can be picked out with a wash and pigments, and the decals should go on a gloss clear coat. The model looks its best in a display case with the rotors turned.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
