An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern Type 90 main battle tank of the Japanese ground forces in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The parts are molded with fine engraved detail, the hull is handled as a single piece and the running gear is fitted with separate wheels. A decal sheet for several units is included.
The Type 90 was brought into service at the beginning of the 1990s as a modern main battle tank. It carries a 120 mm smoothbore gun built under license, complemented by an autoloader, so the crew is only three men. The vehicle received composite armor and an advanced fire control system and it belonged in its day among the most modern tanks in the world. It served above all on the northern island of Hokkaido, where it formed the backbone of the armored units there.
Assemble and test the running gear before closing the hull. Use thin cement for plastic, a primer and an airbrush. Precise masking suits the typical Japanese two-color camouflage of the period; you will create the patina with dark washes into the engraved lines and with pigments for dust and mud on the underside of the vehicle and on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
