The model captures the upgraded RAM/RS version with add-on armor and a turret with armament. An opening rear ramp, a detailed interior and a crew figure tend to be included. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The AAVP7A1 is a tracked amphibious vehicle meant for landing and carrying infantry from the sea to the shore. The abbreviation RAM/RS stands for an extensive upgrade program - reliability, availability, maintainability and rebuild to a new standard - which extended the life of the vehicles with a new suspension and powerpack. The JGSDF assigned these vehicles to its rapid amphibious deployment units, and they tend to be armed with a 40 mm automatic grenade launcher and a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun.
First finish and fit the running gear and the interior before you close the hull up. After the base coat, bring the surface to life with washes and pigments that create the mud and dust effects typical of amphibious vehicles. The tracks and the road wheels come out best when the engraved detail is picked out.
