A set of two injection-molded plastic kits of the American M4A3 Sherman medium tank with a gun of 75 mm caliber, in 1:72 scale from the Italian manufacturer Italeri. The models are conceived as Fast Assembly: the parts fit together well and the basic assembly is quick, yet it is still a plastic kit that has to be glued and painted. The pair in the package is handy for building a platoon or for comparing two marking schemes.
The M4 Sherman was the most widespread American medium tank of the Second World War and served in many versions with the Allies as well. The M4A3 version was marked out by its liquid-cooled Ford gasoline engine and became the type preferred by the US Army. The form with the 75 mm gun was a general-purpose one: it handled fire against infantry as well as lighter armored targets and proved itself from Normandy through the campaign across Western Europe. The Sherman was valued for its reliability, its easy maintenance and its suitability for mass production.
Even with a quick build it pays to clean up the seams on the hull and the turret and to align the running gear. There is no need to bother with the interior; concentrate on the outside. Paint over a primer in American Olive Drab. Emphasize the panel lines with a dark wash, and give the running gear, the fenders and the lower hull their due with pigments (mud, dust). The two kits in the package make it possible to try out different weathering methods.
The models are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
