A driver seated at the controls of a low tractor, the kind aircraft are moved with on the deck of an aircraft carrier between parking spots, elevators and catapults. It is the third pose execution of this figure, so it differs from the earlier two in the turn of the torso and the hands. Even in the small scale the print manages to render the vest and the ear muffs, that is the gear nobody on a deck does without.
A tractor without a crew looks on a finished scene like a parked piece of iron. With a figure at the wheel it turns at once into a vehicle in motion and the whole deck comes alive. In 1:72 scale that is all the more valuable because a model of the tractor is itself scarcely bigger than a thumb. An empty seat shows immediately on so small an area.
Tractors of the A/S32A series are among the hardest-working machines on a deck. Their low build lets them drive under a wing, a strong drive will pull even a heavy combat aircraft, and the driver sits so as to see the crewman directing him in front. Work on a deck is noisy and cramped, so communication is mainly by hand.
A model of the tractor is obtained separately. The figure can also be seated in another open vehicle of similar height; it is enough to watch the angle of the legs.
