An accessory set for models of the F-4 Phantom in 1:72 scale. It replaces the seats from the kit with a more accurate part that has a bolder shape and more division.
The ejection seats of the British firm Martin-Baker were fitted to Phantoms in versions of the H series. A seat is not just a shell: it has its own frame, a headrest, the firing handles of the ejection mechanism and belts, and it is exactly these elements that make a cockpit legible. In 1:72 scale the seat in a kit tends to be simplified to a few flat areas, which shows at once under an open canopy, because almost no other detail in the cockpit is visible.
Try the seat dry first and check that it passes through the cockpit opening and that it does not clash with the instrument panel or the walls. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and carefully sand the rest. Wash and degrease the part before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly. Paint the seat away from the model, a dark base and dry brushing will bring out the edges, and set the belts and the handles apart in a different tone. Glue it into the cockpit only once the painting is finished.
The package holds only the stated seat parts. The kit of the aircraft, the paints and the glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
