A 1:72 decal sheet with markings for five Messerschmitt Bf 109E-3s from the fighting over France and England, including the machines of well-known aces.
Responsibility details are not available.
The sheet brings markings for five Messerschmitt Bf 109E-3 aircraft. The E version, which the pilots called the Emil, was the first truly mass-produced 109; with the Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine and cannon in the wings it formed the backbone of the fighter Geschwader during the campaign in France and in the Battle of Britain.
Among the subjects you will find the machine of Herbert Ihlefeld of I.(J)/LG 2 from Calais in March 1941 and an aircraft of 1./JG 2 from the spring of 1940. Next comes the Emil of Oberleutnant Hans Philipp of 4./JG 54 from France in August 1940, then the Bf 109E-3 of Adolf Galland of III./JG 26 from June 1940 and finally the aircraft of Oberleutnant Heinz Bär of 1./JG 51. Each option is drawn out in the summary supplied.
The line-up of names on the sheet is no accident. Galland commanded III./JG 26 at the time when the unit operated from the French coast, Philipp later moved to the Eastern Front, and Bär was among the most successful German pilots of all. A model built from any one of them therefore carries a particular story, not just an anonymous machine from a production batch.
The base should be smooth and glossy; on matte paint air is trapped under the thin film and the marking goes white. Dip the sheet in lukewarm water for a few seconds, let it rest on paper and only then slide the marking onto a moistened spot. Blot the excess water away and finally go over the model with a matte coat.
Inside there is a printed sheet and a color summary of the finishes. The kit and the paints do not come with it.
